Catbird and the Dragonfly Present Poets and Pastries, Featuring Athena Dixon and Shaina Monet
- Shaina Monet: Winner of the 2018 Iowa Review Award in poetry and the 2017 Vassar Miller Poetry Award, Shaina Monet is a New Orleans native and a 2018 Best of the Net nominee. She also serves as a poetry editor at Bayou Magazine. Her work has appeared in Crazyhorse, Unlikely Stories, Sundog Lit, and Yemassee Journal. Currently, she has poems forthcoming in The Iowa Review.
- Athena Dixon Born and raised in Northeast Ohio, Athena Dixon is a poet, essayist, and editor. She is Founder of Linden Avenue Literary Journal, which she launched in 2012.
Athena's work has appeared in various publications both online and in print. She has been nominated for both the Pushcart Prize and Best of the Net. She is a Callaloo fellow, a V.O.N.A. fellow, and a Tin House Scholar. Athena is a member of the Moving Forewards Memoir Writers Collective. Additionally, she has presented at AWP, HippoCamp, and The Muse and the Marketplace.
She is the author of No God In This Room, a poetry chapbook , published by Argus House Press. Her work also appears in The BreakBeat Poets Vol. 2: Black Girl Magic (Haymarket Books). Athena is the co-host of the New Books in Poetry Podcast via the New Books Network.
She writes, edits, and resides in Philadelphia.
Alex Jennings is a writer/teacher/performer living in New Orleans. He was born in Wiesbaden (Germany) and raised in Gaborone (Botswana), Tunis (Tunisia), Paramaribo (Surinam) and the United States.
