Connection Games: Build Community

Reservation Dates:
Tuesday, November 13, 2018 - 6:30pm to 8:30pm
Description:

Are you looking to grow your community?

Do you crave deeper relationships?

Do you desire a space to feel accepted exactly as you are?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, please join us at Connection Games!

Connection Games are a collection of extensively tested, facilitator-led experiences that give players a hands-on taste of authentic interpersonal connection.

Connection Games (also known as Authentic Relating Games) offer a safe place to practice using our curiosity to better understand another person’s world. Connection Games foster presence, self-awareness, awareness of others, and connection.

*This November event is for female-identifying folks only. Beginning in January, Connection Games will be offered to people of all genders.*

What kinds of experiences are waiting for you at games? You’ll most likely:
• Make new friends
• Learn something about yourself
• Learn something about being human
• Have the courage to reveal something about yourself
• Have the compassion to be with another as they reveal themselves
• Laugh and smile.

What are the games themselves like? Some of them are played one-on-one, some in small groups, some with the whole group. They can be light, fun and playful, or serious and edgy. Almost all of them have a focus on paying attention to your experience of yourself and others in the present moment. Game nights provide a lower-stakes venue to feel the power of being vulnerable in community with the aim of bringing more authentic connection into our lives every day.

$10-15 sliding scale. Please pay what you can; no one will be turned away for lack of funds.

Funds help us cover snacks, invest in The Dragonfly’s community space, and sponsor attendees who aren’t able to pay full price.

About the Facilitator:

Cynthia Sleight is a school health educator and a trained Authentic Revolution facilitator who recently moved here from Austin, TX. Her life-long interest in social-emotional skills, mindfulness, and community building was transformed when she was introduced to Austin’s Authentic Relating community, whose practices changed her life, allowing her to feel more freedom in self-expression, growing her ability to set healthier boundaries while deepening her connection with her friends, her partner, and her family. She loved leading Games in Austin, and is excited to bring these practices to New Orleans!

Additional Considerations:
- Please note that while Connection Games can be a powerful, and sometimes transformative, emotional practice, this event is not a therapeutic setting, and the facilitator is not there in the role of counselor. If you have needs that would best be served by a mental health professional, please do not consider this practice as a substitute for such care, but rather as an addition.

- We reserve the right to refuse entry to anyone who represents a credible risk of harm to the safety of others in attendance, to themselves, or to the integrity of our events."
